Dehradun. 14th April 2024. A Two Days Uttarakhand Pedicon-2024 was organized at the auditorium of Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences on 13th and 14th April 2024. Uttarakhand Pedicon-2024 was the Annual Conference of Pediatricians of Uttarakhand state. This annual conference was organized after a gap of five years.

This Conference Uttarakhand Pedicon-2024 was organized in joint collaboration of Indian Academy of Pediatrics and Dehradun Sociaety of Pediatrics. 

The programme was begun jointly by Chief Guest, Chairperson, Uttarakhand Commission of Child Rights Protection, Dr. Geeta Khanna, Guest of Honour, Vice President, North Zone, Indian Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Satish Sharma, Guest of Honour, Chief Medical Superintendent, Dr. Prerak Mittal, and Programme’s Organizing Chairperson & Principal, S.G.R.R.I.M.&H.S., Dr. Utkarsh Sharma, Programme’s Organizing Secretary & Associate Professor, Deptt. of Pediatrics, Dr. Vishal Kaushik by lamp lighting.

Programme’s Chief Guest, Dr. Geeta Khanna, in her address to the gathering, said that it’s the duty of the Pediatricians to guide parents to provide ideal upbringing to the children. She explained the Protection of Child Rights in detail so that every child gets required upbringing and safety. She also urged the parents to minimize the screen time (time spent on mobile, television and video games) of the children.

National President of Indian Academy of Pediatrics (I.A.P.), Dr. G.V. Basavaraja addressed this conference by his video message. He, in his address, 

said that such programmes are ideal platforms for sharing about latest treatment techniques, inventions and knowledge. 

In the annual conference, students of Post Graduation in Pediatrics of the four premier medical colleges of Uttarakhand state, Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (A.I.I.M.S.), Rishikesh, Govt. Medical College, Haldwani and Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences (S.G.R.R.I.M.&H.S.), Dehradun presented various pediatrics medical cases. After that, the treatment methods of various infections that attack babies were explained by senior pediatricians. The senior pediatrician specialists threw light in detail over the normal cases of pediatrics, vaccination in babies and children to prevent various diseases, the every day challenges faced by Pediatricians, etc. and gave guidance to the young pediatricians and students of Post Graduation in Pediatrics on how to proper management of treatment in babies and children.

The Young Pediatricians and students of Post Graduation in Pediatrics presented Research Papers and attractive Posters on various themes of Pediatrics. In Research Papers, Dr. Ayushi Joshi of Graphic Era Institute of Medical Sciences won the first position while Dr. Dr. Deeksha Gupta won the second position. In the Poster Competition, Dr. Ayushi Bansal of S.G.R.R.I.M.&H.S. won the first position while Dr. Aditi of A.I.I.M.S., Rishikesh won the Second Position. These winners were awarded with mementoes and certificates. 

In this Conference Uttarakhand Pedicon-2024, more than 200 Pediatricians and Students of Post Graduation in Pediatrics participated who come from Uttarkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi and Haryana. 

Significant roles were also played by Indian Academy of Pediatrics, Uttarakhand’s President, Dr. Ashank Airan, Secretary, Dr. Hans Vaish & Treasurer Dr. Ravi Sahota, Dr. Ragini Singh, Dr. Bindu Bindu Agarwal, Dr. Shruti Kumar, Dr. Aashish Sethi, Dr. Premila, Dr. Tanvi Khanna, Students of Post Graduation in Pediatrics and Intern doctors in making this Conference a success.

This occasion was also marked by the auspicious presence of Senior Pediatricians like Dr. Vipin Vaish, Dr. Manish Jain, Dr. Latika Joshi, Dr, Anil Rawat, Dr. Alpa Gupta, Dr. Girish Gupta, Dr. Ashish Kumar Simalti, Dr. Ritu Rakholia, Dr. Sumit Vohra, Dr. Arun Kumar, Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Dr. Shreeparna Vasu.
